Daughter of Amber and Minnie Stuller Huey

Ardee Eliza (Huey) Ober, 89, of Indiana, formerly of Seward, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the Communities at Indian Haven, Indiana.

A daughter of Amber and Minnie (Stuller) Huey, she was born April 17, 1915, in Lockvale (Bear Run).

When she was a teenager, she lived in Starford, where her family had a gas station. She wed her childhood sweetheart, Charles W. Ober, on Nov. 23, 1932. They resided in Seward.

In 1947, the Obers moved to Starford, where they were the proprietors of a gas station and general store for 25 years. Mrs. Ober was a devoted wife and mother. In 1968, the family moved to a home in Indiana, in which she had resided until her death. Mrs. Ober was also employed for 10 years as a clerk at the Indiana Livestock Auction Barn. She loved to go for long walks, bake homemade bread, collect dolls, sew, garden, read romance novels and listen to country music.

She is survived by her three children, Richard and his wife, Louise (Obloy), of Chesterland, Ohio, Robert and his wife, Jane (Mayausky), of Solon, Ohio, and Connie, Indiana, Pa.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Bracken, of Doylestown, Ohio; her special sister-in-law and friend, Idella Ober, of Hillsdale; Also several nieces and nephews; her loving caregivers, great-niece Dawn Fridley, Jean Hankinson, Lois Stiver and Cindy Edwards-Shultz.

Mrs. Ober was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, in 1990; five sisters, Velma Goodlin, Vernice Keith, Meredith Henderson, Arlene Bash and Violet Bash; a grandson, Todd Ober, of Solon, Ohio.

A funeral service was held Tuesday in Hillsdale. Interment followed in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
