Lena Kunz Eberle was born on July 31, 1867 at Beason, Illinois. She received her early education in Lincoln county in Illinois and confessed her faith in Christ being baptized at the age of 13.
On January 16, 1890 she was united in marriage to Chris Eberle coming to York county as a bride and settling near Bradshaw. To this union seven children were born.
The family moved to Litchfield in 1906 where they lived until in 1918 when they moved to York. She resided there until her death. Her last four months were spent in Denver as an invalid at the home of her youngest daughter. She passed away there at the age of 75 years and nine months.
Her husband and four children, Alice, May, Wallace and Mabel, preceded her in death. She is survived by one son Aaron of Springfield, Illinois; two daughters, Rena Triplett of Seneca and Dr. Lulu E. Phillipus of Denver; one brother, Peter Kunz of Rogers, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Ross Eberle of York; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral rites were held at the Potter Funeral home in Litchfield on Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Guy Dunning in charge, Mrs. Paul Givens and Mrs. Byrel Lang sang three beautiful hymns.
Pallbearers were former neighbors: Dee Minshull, Emery Witt, Otto Minshull, E.J. Clark, Wm. Kabiser and Tom McClintock.
Interment was in the family plot in the Litchfield cemetery.
Out-of-town relatives here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Triplett of Seneca; Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Eberle and son, of Springfield; Drs. L.E. and Lulu Phillipus and daughter, of Denver, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eberle and daughter of Burwell; Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Eberle, York; Mrs. Laura Gray, York; Mrs. Frances Ratliff, York; Mr. and Mrs. Will Eberle, Sumner; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Eberle, Broken Bow; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eberle and children, Mason City and Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Anderson and daughter, Mason City.
