Tommie Key, 80, of Shady Point, passed away Monday, Dec 9, 2002, in Poteau. He was born May 27, 1922 at Hackett, Arkansas. He worked at a paint and body shop. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. His favorite hobbies were whittling under the shade tree, listening to music and watching wrestling on TV.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Kay Key, his parents, Elbert and Della (Borden) Russell; a daughter, Shirley Lowrimore, two sons, Ronnie and Larry Key; and one brother, Alvis Key.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and Robert Nicholson of Purcell; Cheryl Mize of Shady Point and Melinda and Jim Rose of Hagerstown, MD; one son and daughter-in-law, Tommie and Charlotte Key of Chickasha; seven grandchildren, Jackie Lowrimore of Panama, Trena and Kevin Nixon, David Mize and Aaron Mize, all of Shady Point, Tiss Porter and Allyan Sailing of Hagerstown and Cassidy Nicholson of Purcell; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Nixon, Kaylee Nixon and Kaleb Nixon, all of Shady Point and Jarred Lowrimore and Jordan Lowrimore, both of Poteau; three sisters, Delsey Hatley and Bonnie Prescott, both of Arkoma and Naomi Powell of Parsons, Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec 12 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with the Rev. Leroy Billy officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery at Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. (Published Poteau Daily News, Thurs.Dec 12, 2002)
