Amos M. "Bobby" Daneker. 88, of 737 Lincoln Ave., Bowmanstown, former mayor of the borough for eight years, died Sunday in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was the husband of Dora (Neeb) Daneker.
He worked in the east plant of the New Jersey Zinc Co.. Palmerton, for 56 years before retiring as a foreman in 1965.
Born in White Haven. Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Sterner) Daneker Altemose. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Palmerton, where he served as president of the men's brotherhood.
Daneker was an officer of the Pennsylvania Order of Sons of America for more than 50 years, and served in Palmerton as a constable, 1933-43; a special policeman, 1934-36, and a justice of peace, 1944-51.
Surviving with his widow are two stepsisters, Mrs. Bertha Moyer of Union Hill and Eva, wife of Merion Fritz of Slatington R.2; a stepbrother, Raymond Altemose of Palmerton; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. A son, Matthew M., predeceased him.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. A calling hour will precede the services.
