Mrs. Mattie V. Hendrix of Mart, mother of E.P. Hendrix of Athens, died at the home of her daughter in that city last Saturday night. Funeral services were held in Mart last Monday and burial followed in the Mart cemetery. Deceased had been confined to her bed only ten days and death resulted from a heart attack and infirmities of age.
Mrs. Hendrix was 75 years of age and a native of Alabama. She came to Texas with her husband, the late R.V. Hendrix of Mabank 56 years ago. The family settled in Limestone county, moved to Mabank in 1903 where they lived ten years, and from there they moved to Mart. Mr. Hendrix passed away nearly eight years ago.
She is survived by four sons and four daughters. The sons are: E.P. Hendrix; M.W. Hendrix, Tundra; R.V. Hendrix, Bay City; E. W. Hendrix, Dallas. the daughters are: Mrs. Lucia Christian, Seagroves; Mrs. Novvie Driver, Mart; Mrs. Mattie Mae Wiesega, Mart and Miss Oneita Hendrix. Twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson, Terry Hendrix of Breckenridge, also survive.
