Suggested edit: Please add this little tribute to Mrs Childs by Jasmine Vaughn:
Does anyone remember Childs' Studio? It was located about two doors down from the Ritz theater. This photo is of my mother that was taken there. I understand that many children took photos on this very table. I was told that Ms. Childs (the studio owner) was light years ahead of her time because she allowed blacks to enter her studio through the front door. She treated all of her customers the same and made no differences in a person's race. In the 40's and 50's, this practice was highly unusual for many businesses in Crockett but Ms. Childs was her own woman and didn't seem to care about what others thought of her welcoming spirit to all. I would really like to know more of her story and photography business.
