The marriage license of Tella Effinger and Charles Duncan states the couple were married in Lancaster on December 11, 1867. In a letter to his brother-in-law in Troy, New York, Tella's father, Dr. Michael Effinger, wrote that the only upset to the wedding was that Tella's wedding and trousseau dresses, ordered from Troy, did not arrive in time for the wedding.
