Iowa- Joseph Andrew Bourriague, 87, passed away in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Creole, Joseph was born on February 23, 1925 to Joseph and Camellia Savoie Bourriague and attended school in Creole and church in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He served on the Cameron Parish Police Jury for many years. Joseph was employed in the oil field and at the Cameron Parish Sheriff Department. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening were among his many hobbies. He was married on July 22, 1952 to Norma Benoit.

His survivors included his loving wife of 59 years, Norma; sons, Edward (Tabatha) of Longville, David (Lisa) of Longville, Lefty and companion, Chris Simon of Lake Charles; daughters, Peggy Conner (Victor) of Pecan Island, Donna Verzwyvelt (John) of Grand Lake, Helen Conner (Adrian "Duke") of Pecan Island and Mary Ellis (Eric) of Bridge City; 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael; 1 granddaughter, Veronica Ann and 1 great granddaughter, Calli Brook and first wife, Barbara Mae LaBove.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Creole Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will begin Friday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and continue Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.



Joseph "Andrew" Bourriague's first wife was Barbara Mae LaBove. They had four children: Peggy, Donna, Helen and David. After Barbara's death, Joseph "Andrew" married Norma Lee Benoit. They had four children: Michael, Lefty, Edward,and Mary.
