Son of Edward Robinson, Jr. and Elizabeth (Shorthouse) Robinson. John was married three times. His first wife was Mary Naomi (Wood) Robinson whom he married in 1825 in Staffordshire, England. They had two children: Sarah and Elizabeth Robinson. John's second wife was Mary (Sorrill) Robinson whom he married in 1849 in Staffordshire, England. John and Mary had one son, John Robinson. John's third wife was Emma (Lucas) Munns Robinson, whom he married in 1854 in Birmingham, England. John and Emma had five children: Clara, Maude, Annie, William and Norah Robinson.
