Manta Joyce Hayes, 71, of Baytown, passed away, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at her residence. She was born December 17, 1937 in Burke, Texas to her late parents, Royce East Jones and Samantha Irene Saxton.

Joyce had lived in Baytown for the last 68 years, was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, a retired cook from the Goose Creek Independent School District after 16 years of service and was a beloved and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Jones and John "Bo" Jones; aunt, Leona Cecille Schima and several sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Ted Hayes of Baytown; sons, Dennis Bob Moses and his wife Karen of Old River and David Brian Moses and his wife Penny of Keller, Texas; daughters: Carla Jean Acosta and her husband Pablo of Baytown and Shelah Pape and her husband Ryan of Baytown; step-sons, Robert Selman and Carl Selman of Breamond, Texas and Mike Hayes, Sr. and his wife Kelley of Baytown; step-daughters, Carol Selman of Breamond, Miranda Strang and her husband Scott of Texas City and Marquetia Christensen and her husband Billy of Baytown; brother, Walter Wayne Jones and his wife Verna of Baytown; sisters, Ruby Rhames of Cleveland and Falvie Allen of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, David Bob Moses of Baytown, Davie Moses of Canton, Ohio, Brian Moses and Brandon Moses both of Keller, Dennis Charles Moses of Silsbee, Hanna Ruth Moses of College Station, Manta McAllister of Baytown, Natasha Stears of Louisiana and Ethan Selman of Baytown; great-grandchild, Samantha Moses of Canton, Ohio and numerous step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.

Her family will recieve friends at Navarre Funeral Home Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the St. John's United Methodist Church, 501 S. Alexander Dr., Baytown, with Rev. Don A. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be Albert Contreras, Jr., Michael Hayes, Sr., Michael Hayes, Jr., Darrell Lee Saxton, Doyle Wells, Billy Wayne Robinson and Bruce Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Charles Moses, David Bob Moses and Natasha Stears.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Stat Home Health Care and the members of St. John's United Methodist Church.
