Gordon E. Grabill, 73, of Angola died Monday, June 4, 2012, at his home in Angola.

Mr. Grabill was a longtime educator, coach and real estate agent in Steuben County.

He began his academic career in 1961 at Fremont Elementary School teaching physical education and sixth grade. In 1967, he became guidance counselor at Prairie Heights High School, retiring from there in 1994.

Mr. Grabill was also a successful coach, winning several NECC titles in football and basketball. He was recently honored for 50 years of coaching baseball, basketball and football at both Prairie Heights and Fremont schools.

He had been a real estate agent for Anchor Realty, Lake James, since 1997.

Mr. Grabill attended Fremont schools and graduated in 1957 from Orland High School. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education and received a master's degree in guidance from the Saint Francis University.

He was a member of Sonlight Community Church at Angola. He was also a member of the National Association of Realtors.

His hobbies included 4-H, animals, flowers and gardening, spending time with his family, attending sporting events, his work and church activities.

He was looking forward to attending his daughter's wedding Saturday, June 9.

He was born March 22, 1939, in Angola, Ind., to Merle and Esther (Manahan) Grabill. He married Janet M. Graham on August 11, 1963, in Orland. She survives in Angola.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gayle Grabill; a sister, Marcia Adams; and a daughter, Michelle R. Everidge in 2002.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Sonlight Community Church, 455 N. Gerald Lett Ave., Angola, and one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Sonlight Community Church with the Rev. Jason Rains and the Rev. Paul Loucks officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Orland.
