Caroline was the daughter of Patterson Allan and Mary Caroline Wilson. She died age six months, and was first interred in Hollywood Cemetery. Her remains were disinterred and reinterred at Shockoe Hill on 7 June 1875. She is buried next to her father, the son of John Allan (who was foster father to Edgar Allan Poe) and Louisa Patterson. Her grave in one of several adjacent Allan/Galt/Patterson plots is unmarked.
