Mrs. Ruby Opal Marshall Easter Hiatt, age 89 of Ararat, VA, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Hiatt was born in Patrick County on March 13, 1923 to Ellis Leonard and Lou Emma Eaton Marshall. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She was not only cherished by her family but also by her entire community. Mrs. Hiatt will be dearly missed. Surviving are a daughter, Melrose Reynolds; sons and daughters-in-law, Julius and Catherine Easter, Leonard and Carol Easter and Warren and Hazel Easter all of Ararat; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Moser and a sister-in-law, Ruby Marshall. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hiatt was preceded in death by her first husband, James Victor Easter and her second husband, Carl Green Hiatt and a brother, Eldridge Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church by Rev. Elmo Hiatt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday beginning at 5:00 PM at Mrs. Hiatt's home at 122 Ellis Marshall Lane, Ararat, VA. off Willis Gap Road.
