She was born April 10, 1915 Valparaiso, Indiana. The family moved to Baudette in 1931. She attended St. Scholastica. She worked in Washington D.C. at the War Department during WWII.
Resided in Int'l Falls till 1967 after a brief Period in Sitka, Alaska and moved back to Int'l Falls.
Virginia enjoyed square dancing, reading, houseplants, and sewing club, taking care of her grandchildren, and spending time at the hunting shack with her family. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Albert Johnson, a son Gregory Johnson.
Virginia is survived by son, Kalman (Karen) Johnson of Oak Park, IL.
Daughters Linnea (Alan) Peover of Seattle, Mary Jane (Frances) Sullivan of Henderson, NV. Daughter-In -Law Dianne (Bob) Johnson-Samlley of Int'l Falls, MN. Brothers George (Mary) Hickner of South Bend, IN. Richard "Dick" (Doris) Hickner of Lake Jackson, TX. Sister, Teresa (Bob) DiJoseph of St Davids, PA. Grandchildren Damian, Elizabeth, Shane, Bjorn and Leif. Great-granddaughter Gabrielle.
Visitation will be Thursday September 2, 2004 from 6-8:00 PM with Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. followed by Vigil Prayers. Catholic Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 am. Friday September 3, 2004 at Faith United Church of Christ. The family would prefer memorials to St. Thomas School or the St. Thomas Catholic Church Building fund or the Northern life Care Center.
Interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
