JEANETTE FORCHUK
1925 - 2001

Norma "Jeanette" Forchuk, beloved wife of George Forchuk of Vauxhall, passed away peacefully December 31, 2000 at the Taber Hospital.

Jeanette was born November 26, 1925 in Taber to Louise and James Hansen. She attended school in Taber and in 1943 attended Normal School in Calgary under the War Emergency Program. She taught her first school at age seventeen near Castor, Alberta. Her next school was in Vauxhall where she met George. They were married on July 18, 1946.

She spent the next eighteen years raising her family of five and in 1964 returned to teaching at the Hays Public School. She later taught at the Vauxhall Elementary School for sixteen years as a classroom teacher and as a teacher librarian. Jeanette was also very active in the community serving as president of the Kinette Club; secretary and president of the Vauxhall Public Library; secretary of the Vauxhall Golf and Country Club; secretary of the Vauxhall and District Senior Citizens; and as a member of the Vauxhall Farmer's Market Committee. Jeanette was active in all auxiliaries of her church as a teacher, councillor, and president of the Relief Society. She enhanced many peoples lives by her kindness, gentle words and loving heart. She loved life and shared the spirit and joy of that love generously.

Jeanette loved to read and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Her home making skills included prize winning baking and warm snuggly quilts. Her family will miss her so much.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Mildred Pearson and Lucille Parks and brother Norman Hansen.

Relatives and friends were invited to meet with the family at the Southland Funeral Chapel, 5006 - 48 Avenue, Taber from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 and prior to the funeral service in the Relief Society Room of the Church from 11:30 A.M. to 12:45 P.M.
