Vincenzo Domenico Angelo Umberto "Vincent" Lombardi, was born on July 4, 1904, in Crecchio, Abruzzo, Italy. He arrived at Ellis Island on April 24, 1908, aboard the SS Principe de Piemonte at the age of 3, traveling with his mother, grandmother and sister. His father, Angelo Nicholas Lombardi, who arrived in 1905, was there to meet them and to introduce them to their new home in New York City. Like most Italian immigrants who arrived in America at the turn of the century, Vincent only spoke Italian and had to quickly learn how to assimilate and adjust to his new life in NYC. He eventually followed in the steps of his father and became a jeweler and silversmith. In 1920, he was living in Los Angeles, California and eventually settled in El Paso, Texas in the 1930's where he worked with his father at Lombardi's Jewelry Manufacturers. He joined the US Army and served as a Private in the Medical Corps during WWII. After the war, he returned to El Paso and married his sweetheart, Maria Jordan in 1955. Over the next 10 years, they had three children, Vincent, Maria and Justina. Vincent passed away on January 13 1965 at William Beaumont General Hospital in El Paso and was laid to rest at Fort Bliss National Cemtery.
