With the assistance of her sons she developed a valuable farm near the old Town of Washington and the greater part of her life thereafter was passed on this old homestead though she passed the evening of her life in the home of her son Rufus where she died at the remarkably venerable age of ninety years She was a woman of most gracious personality of education and culture and was loved by all who came within the sphere of her gentle influence.

She not only had much business acumen but was also zealous in the support of religious and educational activities and otherwise was influential in community affairs she having been a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church. The name of this noble woman merits high place on the roll of the honored pioneers of Texas.
