Wilbur Edgar "Shorty" Johnson, 71, died Oct. 28, 1980 in his Lafayette residence, apparently of a heart attack. Born at Lafayette, he was reared at Chalmers, but had spent most of his life in this area. He was supervisor in quality control at Duncan Electric for 49 years, retiring in 1974. On Sept. 23, 1933, he was married at Lafayette to Lillian M. Klepinger, and she died Aug. 18, 1980. Surviving are one son, Donald E. Johnson of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Mumes and Mrs. Florence Lesher, both of Prescott, AZ; and a half-brother, Melvin Shamer of Lima, OH. Service held Oct. 21 in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Pastor James F. Simpson officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
