Raymond Leslie Denisar, 81, of Champaign died at 3:35 P.M. Saturday (Feb. 18, 2006) at home. Memorial services will be at 4 P.M. Friday at First Christian Church, 3601 S. Staley Road, C. The Rev. Don Hatfield will officiate. A reception will follow the service.
Gravesides services will be at 1 P.M. Saturday at Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon, with a reception at 1:30 P.M. at The Christian Church, 409 S. Main Street, Abingdon.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 P.M. Friday at the church.
Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy is handling arrangements.
Mr. Denisar was born Aug. 19, 1924 in Cameron, a son of Charles and Mary Leona "Mamie" Denisar. He married Ruth Guymon on Feb. 2, 1943, in Lancaster, Mo. She survives. Survivors also include three sons, Roger Denisar of Indianapolis, Rodney Denisar of Sarasota, Fla., and the Rev. Thomas Felts of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three daughters, Mary Ann Marquis of Geneva, Resa Mayor of Champaign and Rita Forness of Cypress, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Mr. Denisar served in the Army during World War II. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Abingdon for 30 years and owned and operated Denisar Paint Service from 1960 to 1972 in Abingdon. He was a member of The Christian Church of Abingdon. During the late 1950's to early 1970's in Abingdon he was counselor for Junior High Regional Groups. In the late 1970's he was the president of the American Field Service for the High School Exchange Student Organization. He hosted an AFS daughter, Mary Archibald, for a year and helped find homes for other exchange students in the area. After retiring from the post office in November 1983, he and his wife moved to Hattiesburg, Miss. and later to Harlingen, Texas. They moved to Champaign in 2002. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Champaign.
