Mrs. Ida Cross, 81, Passes Away Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Cross, 81, who died Friday, May 3, were conducted Monday afternoon at Hengstler's Chapel with the Rev. David T. Gustafson, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Burns, Louis Burns, Ivan Copeland, Fred Hasenpflug, Marvin Hasenpflug and Joe Manion.

Ida Alma Cross was born Sept. 28, 1881 in Plathe Pomean, Germany. She received her early education in Germany and immigrated to the United States at the age of 13.

She married Benjamin Franklin Cross on Nov. 20, 1900 at Pierce. They lived for a time in Plainview and in 1907 came to Creighton, where she spent the rest of her life. Her husband died June 22, 1922.

She was skilled in doing fancywork. She was a member of the Creighton Methodist Church and WSCS and was faithful in her church attendance as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are her children, Louis of Creighton, Edward of Webster, S.D., Mrs. Helen Geroy of Los Angeles, Calif., Willis of Norfolk and Frank of Pickstown, S.D.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Harder of Pasco, Wash. and Gus Harder of Big Springs and a sister, Mrs. Nels Hanson of Plainview.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Melvin and Charley Cross.
