dau of Hoyt Sherman McComb & Emma (Howe) McComb
who were married 23 Sept 1878 at New York City
Hoyt b. 14 May 1855 d. 11 Apr 1899 Gallipolis, Ohio
Emma b. Boston, Mass. d. 13 Dec 1909 at New York

paternal grandparents were:
Robert McComb & Amelia (Sherman) McComb who m. 2 Oct 1832 at Lancaster, Ohio

Amelia was the sister of Civil War Union Major General William Tecumseh Sherman and of US Senator, Presidential Cabinet Secretary John Sherman. John's estate was valued at $2,500,000 (2.5 million) when he died in 1900; Julia Huggins and her father, Hoyt McComb, are named in John's estate receiving $2,500 and $5,000 respectively.

"Miss Julia Huggins, for several years a familiar visitor in the summer months, has arrived at the Wayside Inn [c.2015 known as the Bird's Nest Bed and Breakfast], where she hopes to recover her health following a severe illness."
[published 4 Aug 1936 Greenfield Recorder-Gazette, Buckland news section]

"Miss Julia Huggins, who has spent 11 weeks at Wayside Inn, returned Friday with her friend, Miss Mardaga, to New York City."
[Miss Mardaga may be Berthe Mardaga, a Belgian-born French language teacher who was the same age as Julia and also a single woman living on the upper west side of Manhattan.]
[published 25 Sept 1937 Greenfield Recorder-Gazette, Buckland news section]

Julia was single, a music teacher, living in Manhattan, N.Y. in the 1930 and 1940 U.S.Censuses. She is mentioned in Washington, D.C. newspapers 1918 to 1920 as a pianist playing at several different events.

"Julia Huggins, also known as Julia McComb, also known as Julia McComb Huggins, deceased...who was at the time of her death a resident of 611 West 137th Street, the County of New York...published for David H Bodell, alternative executor, to prove a will dated 5 Feb 1949..."
[P325, 1950 - CITATION - a call for heirs to step forward in legal notice that appeared in the Irish-American Advocate, a New York City newspaper, dated 11 March 1950]
Surrogate's Court and search for Miss Julia McComb Huggins April 2016 found no will or administration papers indexed for her (checked both McComb and Huggins surnames) in New York County/Manhattan. This is odd, as she lived here for years and years, and one might imagine she had quite a personal estate.
