Death Takes Young Barkley Twp. Farmer
Rudolph Ritter Expires at County Hospital Sunday Following Operation on Friday.
Rudoph Ritter, well known Barkley township farmer, died at the Jasper county hospital at three-thirty o'clock Sunday morning following a brief illness with bowel obstruction. His death came four day after he was sticken. Mr. Ritter was operated on Friday when it became apparent that such a procedure must be taken if his life was to be spared. The illness which ended his life came withoug warning, the victim being bedfast only two days before the operation was performed.
The deceased was forty years of age, having been born in Illinois January 31, 1888. The greater part of his life was spent in this community, where he was well and favorably known. He devoted his working life to farming, a vocation in which he was very successful.
Mr. Ritter was united in marriage with Miss Frances Davisson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Davisson, of this county, on January 1, 1913. To this union were born three children, who, with their mother, survive him. The children are Freddie, 14, Louise, 4 and Ruth, two. Mr. Ritter is also survived by his father, Edward Ritter, and six brothers and sisters. The brothers and sister are: Mrs. Gus Schultz of Melvin, Ill., Mrs. William Schultz of Barkley township, Mrs. Max Schultz of Hobart, Mrs. Leo Schultz of Union township, Ottor Ritter of Barkley township and Edward Ritter of Jordan township. His mother died in March 1918.
The funeral services will be held from the lutheran church ten miles northwest of Rensselaer at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Vauwick of Lowell in chartge. Interment will be made in Weston cemetery here. Brief services will be held from the residence at one o'clock.
