Christina R. Barber,90, a long time Rush County resident passed away Saturday June 23, 2012 in Milan, IN. Christina was born on May 13, 1922 in Somerset, KY to the late Adam and Mary (Wesley) Sadler. Christina has lived in Rush County since the age of 5. She was a 1940 graduate of Raleigh High School.
Christina married James Nixon on January 24, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1962. She later married Harold Barber on February 6, 1965 and he preceded her in death on September 3, 1997. Christina was a homemaker, a cook at Raleigh School, a waitress at various restaurants and worked at naval bases during WWII. She was a member of Plum Creek Christian Church.
Christina leaves behind daughter, Karen and husband Dan Noel of Rising Sun, IN, step daughter Shirley and husband Tom Walters of Ft. Wayne, IN, brother Linville and wife Judy Sadler of Falmouth, IN, two grandchildren James Allen and wife Kim Worrell of Lebanon, IN and Shawn Michael and wife Becky Worrell of Ft.Collins Colorado, several step grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several step great grandchildren.
In addition to both husbands and her parents Christina was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a step grandchild.
Services will be at 2 PM, Friday June 29, 2012 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Charles Miller presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the Moster Mortuary from 12 PM until time of service that same day. Burial will follow at Raleigh (Zion) cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Raleigh Fire Dept.
