Mrs. Elene Carter Brinkley went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 23, 2012. Elene was 88 years young, the youngest child of twelve. She was born to the late Emma Hanchey and Tom Hill Carter and was the wife of the late Buren Brinkley, Sr. Elene was the mother of Lynda Hollingsworth of Wallace, NC, Faye McLamb and husband Coke of Willard, NC, Buren Brinkley Jr. and wife Sharon of Watha, NC, Peggy Sholar and husband Davy of Wallace, NC and Kay Willard of Willard, NC, whom Mrs. Brinkley lived with. She is also survived by a sister, Linner Carter of Day Springs, Elene was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. She was a member of the Teachey Presbyterian Church.

She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a step great grandchild, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Elene was blessed to have two wonderful caregivers, Shanda Bass and Tiffiany Braswell, one very special lady, Ernestine Fisher whom Mrs. Brinkley and the family loves very much.

Elene is preceded in death by her husband Buren Brinkley, Sr., a granddaughter, Vickie Joy Teachey and two son-in-laws, Bruce Carroll Willard and Carroll Hollingsworth, six sisters, Meadie Stokes, Annie Kirk, Canary Mozingo, Maggie Lou Bradshaw, Gladys Maready and Winnie Carter, four brothers, Robert, Willie, Rayford and Clarence Carter, raised in the Northeast Community.

Mrs. Brinkley was a dedicated Christian who lived for the Lord. Her faith in God was strong and always believing in her Lord Jesus Christ.

Pallbearers will be Allen Teachey, Robbie McLamb, Brent Sholar, Will Canady, Duaine Cavenaugh, Josh McLamb, Brantly Hobbs, Bradly Knowles and Andrew Fussell.
