Ables, a native of Attala County, died June 20, 1012 at the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a retired steel mill machinist and a farmer.
He is survived by sons Luther Arnold Ables and wife Roxanne of Mathiston, Samuel Morris Ables and wife Robin of Ackerman; daughters, Lily Diane Crawford and husband John of Hollandale, Sandra Nell Newman, and Deborah Kay Wilson and husband Toby of Louisville; a sister, Frances Bridges-Gravett of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
