John Richard (Dick) Dart, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, Feb. 8, at the United Hospital Systems-Kenosha Campus due to complications from a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Dick was born on May 18, 1922, in Green Bay, Wis., the son of the late George and Marie Dart. He graduated from Kenosha High School, where he was a member of the swim team. Dick continued taking additional college credits beyond high school.
Dick served a total of four years in the Air Force during World War II. For over half of his military service, Dick was in the South Pacific as a photographer with the 20th Combat Mapping Squadron. He earned the Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Silver Battle Star, four Bronze Battle Stars, four Overseas Service Bars and two Presidential Citations.
On June 4, 1949, Dick married Gladys Wudell in Waukegan, Ill. They were married nearly 60 years and always resided in Kenosha.
Dick worked at Snap-On Tools for 41 years. For several years he worked as a draftsman in the engineering department. Dick worked for almost 30 years in the polishing department, retiring in 1983, as a supervisor.
Serving as an usher for many years, Dick was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Elks Club, V.F.W., the Supervisor's Club of Snap-On Tools, the Good Sam Travel Club, and the Airstream Rally Organization. He actively participated in Airstream rallies across the United States for many years. Dick was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
Dick's greatest enjoyment in life was his family. He loved to travel all over the united States with his Airstream trailer making memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Walt Disney World was a favorite family destination through the years. Dick also enjoyed listening to and watching his children and grandchildrenparticipate in sports and music activities. He was always in attendance at piano recitals, band and orchestra concerts, parades, and sports events showing support and love for his family.
Left to cherish his fond memory include his wife, Gladys, of Kenosha; one daughter, Sandra (Scott) Lindgren of Kenosha; and one son, Richard (Gail) Dart, of Kenosha; and five grandchildren, Craig Lindgren, Tim Lindgren, Rydean Dart, Ian Dart and Sierra Dart.
