==========
"The LaFayette Sun" - November 1, 1922:
Mrs. Myrtie Sims.
The subject of this sketch was the daughter of Mr. Jake Blackmon. She leaves a husband, two sons, a father, one brother and two sisters to mourn her departure.
Do not weep as do those who have no hope, for her reward is sure. She was a good Christian woman. To know her was to love her. She was sick for several months, but she bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude. She was only thirty-five years of age, but she finished her work on earth and heard her Master say, "It is enough; come up higher and receive a crown that is laid up for all that are faithful to the end."
Dear boys, follow the example that your mother set before you and some sweet day you will see her again where sickness and sorrow never come and death is feared no more.
Her body was interred in the cemetery at Pleasant Grove on the 22nd of September, and was followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Some sweet and comforting words were spoken by Rev. Hunt, the pastor. The many beautiful floral offerings showed the high esteem in which she was held. She will be sadly missed in the community in which she lived, but let us all strive to meet her.
