Married Marion on 5/15/1945Charles O. "Whitey" Davis, 86, of Mayfield, Kentucky, died Sunday January 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.

Davis was born in Mayfield, Kentucky on December 17, 1927 to Norman and Beatrice (Rodgers) Davis.

A graduate of Mayfield High School, Davis joined the Army Air Corps and was a WWII era veteran. He married the love of his life, Marion Page Davis, on May 15, 1945. They were 17 when they married and modeled the way for how to live life with love, compassion, and commitment.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter Alice Davis Stratton (Andy), his son Charles "Chuck" Davis, and preceded in death by his daughter Norma Davis Seavers. He is also survived by a sister Juanita Davis Elliott, a brother Vernon Davis, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong citizen of Mayfield, Davis served as mayor, city police judge, and as city council member. He was known for his compassionate leadership, his commitment to the community, and his quiet disposition. He owned a real estate business and insurance company, was a 32 degree Mason, and was a member of New Vision Ministries Church.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Byrn Funeral Home. Pastor Greg Hussey will be officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jill Stratton, Merri Mlincek, Anna Osborne, Matt Monroe, Molly Jewell, Mackenzie Davis and Thomas Clifton. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Hendley, Brian Kern and Ron Gentry. Friends may call from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Byrn Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at Byrn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Vision Ministries Church, 428 South 7th Street, Mayfield, KY 42066 or to a charity of your choice.
