Art and Esther moved to Lodi, CA on October 20, 1935. They first lived in town until 1948 when they moved to a small dairy farm 10 miles east of Lodi. They worked the dairy farm from 1948 to 1953. Art also did field work for other farmers. When their cows contracted TB, they had to sell the farm and move back to town. Art later worked 13 years for Eagle Ford in Stockton as a lot maintenance worker. Esther worked hard during her younger years. Picking and packing grapes was back breaking work. She also did domestic work for others.
