Mary Catherine Templeton Sparrow, 101, of Mount Mourne passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her childhood home.
She was born on February 28, 1911 in Mount Mourne, NC to James Sumter and Mary Elizabeth Bratton Templeton. Mary Catherine attended Mooresville High School and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Linwood Sparrow, Sr. in 1990. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Ephriam Templeton; sister, Sue Joanna Templeton and grandson, Thomas Sumter Sparrow.
She is survived by her sons, Ralph Linwood Sparrow, Jr. and his wife, Doris of Mooresville, James Thomas Sparrow and his wife, Doris of Houston, TX, John Templeton Sparrow of Mooresville; grandchildren, John William Sparrow of Houston, TX, James Samuel Sparrow of Columbus, MS, and Kimberly Sparrow Strange of Shelby, NC; great-grandchildren, Zechariah (Zak) Sparrow, Catherine Louise Strange, Lydia Grace Strange.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Jerrylyn McCullough, Venancio Tadeo and Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
