Obadiah was raised in eastern Oklahoma and a 1942 graduate of Tahlequah High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1965, he moved his family to Rogers when he and his brother purchased the Warehouse Market Grocery Store on Arkansas Street. He later purchased Food Town Stores, which operated in two locations in Rogers. He attended First Baptist Church in Rogers.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Addie Ruth Silcott; son, Eddy Silcott and wife, Kim, of Rogers; daughter, Rhonda Ruder and husband, Mark, of Owasso, Okla.; sister, Betty Ann Gill of Muskogee, Okla.; granddaughters, Kylie and Ashlyne Silcott, Jessica and Adrienne Ruder; and cousins, Leona Ann Wigs Newell and Charles Dale Miller, both of Tulsa.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Rollins Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Ben Rowell. Interment will follow in Benton County Memorial Park.
