Mr. Clayton, 89, of Freehold Township, passed away at CentraState Medical Center; was a lifelong resident of the area; a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II serving in both the South Pacific and on a destroyer in the Atlantic; was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 2250 in Red Bank for 55 years before retiring in 1989. Survived by wife M. Jane Clayton; sons, John Jay Clayton and Dennis J. (Linda) Clayton; daughters, Darlene (Ralph) Hoffman and Sharon L. Clayton; and 4 grandchildren.
