Esther Murphy
Esther S. (Mrs Charles) Murphy, 78, of Rte 2 Box 338, Vashon Island, and recently of the Port Orchard Convalescent Center, died yesterday at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1898, in Warren, Minn., she moved to the Poulsbo area in 1910 and on July 3, 1919, married Charles Murphy in Roundup, Mont. They then returned to the Poulsbo area. Mrs. Murphy worked in Shop 72 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1959. She moved to California in 1962 to live with her son in Fremont, returning to the Puget Sound area in 1969 to reside on Vashon Island. Her husband preceded her in death in June, 1965.
Survivors include three sons, James B., of Port Gamble, Franklin R. of Bremerton, and Leonard A. of Fremont, Calif. ; three daughters, Violet (Mrs. William) Kindall of Port Orchard, Lorraine (Mrs. Glen) Willers of Vashon Island, and Carol (Mrs. William) Baker of Tracy, Calif.; a sister, Edna Storehoff of Poulsbo; twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Lewis Chapel; interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
