CHICOPEE - Elaine (Nicodemus) Cardinal, 75, of Chicopee St., died Saturday June 16, 2012 at Baystate Medical Center. She was born in Holyoke. Elaine was the daughter of the late Harry Nicodemus Sr., and Rita (Yelle) Nicodemus. She worked at Mt. Holyoke College. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Cardinal in 2006 and her daughter Barbara Cardinal. Elaine is survived by her children, Sharon LaValley, Sheila Jones and her husband Richard, Dawn Davignon all of Chicopee, Jamie Dougherty of Holyoke, her step-children, David Cardinal of Chicopee, Richard Cardinal and his wife Lori of South Hadley and Suzanne Cote of Chicopee, her brothers and sisters, Sandra Wilkins and her husband Don of Chicopee, Harry Nicodemus, Jr. and his wife Bessie of South Hadley, David Nicodemus and Charlene Schmitter and her husband Mark of Chicopee, also her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral for Elaine will be held on Friday morning at 9:30 am at the Ryder Funeral Home in South Hadley with her burial to follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
