Charles was predeceased by his wife, the former Thelma Carsten, whom he married on 13 Dec. 1931 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

"CHARLES G. HAYNE — Brielle resident Charles G. Hayne, a retired real estate broker, died Sunday in Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was 84 years old. Mr. Hayne was born in Charleston, S.C., and lived in New York and Spring Lake before moving to Brielle in 1966. He was a member of the Belmar Elks, and a founding member of the Monsignor Reilly Knights of Columbus, the Monsignor Baldwin Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and the Brielle First Aid Squad. He was the regional director of the St. Vincent DePaul League, a member of the Men of Malvern, and the Manasquan Elks Lodge. He was a eucharistic minister and a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. During World War II, he operated the Army Corps of Engineers radar station at Sandy Point. His wife, Thelma Carsten Hayne, died in 1971. Surviving are two sons, Raymond G. Hayne, St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Charles D. Hayne, with whom he lived; four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were yesterday from the Meehan Funeral Home, Spring Lake Heights, followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Catharine's Church. He was buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle."
