MARGUERITE D. (BRAUER) RAFFERTY, 91 Loving Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma PECATONICA - Marguerite D. (Brauer) Rafferty, 91, of Pecatonica died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the Grand Victorian Assisted Living in Pekin. Born April 20, 1920, in Ridott, daughter of Ubbo J. and Ida (Meyer) Brauer. Graduated from Wagner Grade School and then Pecatonica High School in 1937. She worked as a bookkeeper for Butterfield Brothers Implements, the Brauer Trucking family business and as assistant cashier at the Bank of Pecatonica. Marguerite married Warren T. Rafferty on Nov. 5, 1945, in Rockford. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Pecatonica, the Pecatonica Historical Society and was involved with the accounting for the Pecatonica Township, Bank of Pecatonica farm auctions and the Winnebago County Fair. Marguerite enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, working with numbers and playing cards. She loved music, especially playing the piano and organ. Marguerite treasured the Pecatonica community, eagerly sharing stories and pictures of how the town grew and changed. She supported the community by attending church bazaars and dinners, scouting events, annual parades, county fairs and participating in the "Memory Lights" program, among others. Marguerite was a woman of great faith and strong convictions in her quiet and unassuming manner. Her friends and neighbors meant a great deal to her throughout her life. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. Marguerite's family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus, Kyle's Care and the staff of the Grand Victorian for their wonderful care.

Marguerite is lovingly survived by two children, three grandsons, and two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by husband, Warren T. Rafferty on April 14, 1992; and brother, Maurice J. Brauer.
