William Jesse Blaylock was born on April 8, 1860 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee to parents Michael Lincoln Blaylock (1835–1880) and Mary Jane Corder Blaylock (1836-1880).

The 1860 United States Federal Census, taken on the 15 day of June, shows William Jesse at the age of 2 months and 12 days old in the household of his parents Michael and Mary Jane Blaylock, in District 3, Cumberland County, Tennessee, Post Office: Bee Creek. Also listed in the household were William Jesse Blaylock's brothers Thomas H. and Giles M. Blaylock.

In the 1870 United States Federal Census, William Jesse is again found in his parents household in District 2, Cumberland County, Tennessee, Post Office: Crossville, along with siblings Thomas H. Charles M., Michael L., James Medford, and Martha Elizabeth Blaylock.

In 1883 William Jesse Blaylock married Margaret Ann Ethridge (1857-1924) and the 1900 United States Federal Census records show them living in Allensville town, Todd, Kentucky with their children Nancy J., William Arthur, Ollie Mai, and Edgar Elmore Blaylock.

By the time the 1910 United States Federal Census was taken we find them living in Nashville Ward 1, Davidson County, Tennessee and only their son Edgar is still living at home.

In the 1920 United States Federal Census we find that all of their children were grown and living outside of the household and William and Margaret or "Maggie" as she was known, are living together in Civil District 6, Dickson County, Tennessee. They had made their home there in the small town of Slyvia where William made his living farming tobacco.

Maggie died in 1924, and sometime after William moved to Alabama with May Choate or Shoult. It was there on Hobbs Island that William died on November 13, 1931. He was buried in Lacey's Spring, Alabama and his sons Edgar and Arthur were in attendance.

His exact burial spot is today unknown. He does not show up in any of the cemetery records there and no obituary can be found for him in either Madison or Morgan Counties.

There are some unmarked graves in the cemeteries in Lacey's Spring and no one knows who is buried in those. It is also possible that he was buried on private land.

The search for the gravesite of William Jesse Blaylock is ongoing and currently Lacey's Spring area Church minutes are being investigated as a source of information for his burial.
