Charles enlisted in the US Navy on 16 Apr 1942 as a Teletype Technician and Photographer. Sept 1942, his wife gave birth to their only son John Christian Baum.
Died 1975 at Community Hospital in Hallandale Florida of diabetes and heart failure. Charles was transported to Ceder Hill Cemetery in Washington DC to be buried next to his wife.
