Irene J Belka, 92, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Darlene, in Heyburn, Idaho.
She was the ninth child of Emil Franz and Anna Johanna (Lucas) Wolf. Born on September 5, 1917 at Buena Vista, Utah.
She married her life-long companion, Howard F. Belka, in Ogden, Utah on August 28, 1937 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on Oct 20, 1942.
In 1953, she moved her family to Anchorage, Alaska. After the death of her husband she moved to Heyburn, Idaho to live with her daughter Irene.
Enjoyed, hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, crafts, candy making, sewing, shopping, and sharing all the above talents with others. She touched the lives of all those who she came in contact with. While living in Alaska she worked for Gilman's Bakery, Sunrise Bakery, Piggley Wiggley Stores, and Safeway. She was a member of the Teamsters 959 in Anchorage.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Briscoe, Salt Lake City; and by her children: Elaine AllahKhan, Salt Lake City; Nancy Steadman, River-ton; Darlene Hubbard, Heyburn, ID; Terry Belka, Palmer, AK; Kathy Lepley, Anchorage, AK; Steve (Talyne) Belka of Palmer, AK; plus 144 other descendants. Preceded in death by her son, Howard F Belka, Jr., her daughter, Diann Esther Acheson, and her husband of 70 years, Howard F Belka.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and relatives may visit from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
