Death Certificate of wife shows buried in Bethsadie Church Clayton County.

Although Shem's death certificate says birthplace of "Clayton Co, Georgia," I believe that is an error. Shem could not have been born 1844 in Clayton County which was formed November 30, 1858. His parents James B. Cook & Martha Lasseter are proven to be living in Fayette County -married 1836 there- and in the Fayette Co census 1840 Fayette “Capt Mosely’s District” and in 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. Shem is also shown on Fayette census in 1850, 1860, 1870. So even after Clayton County was formed in 1858 (from Fayette and Henry Counties), his parents AND Shem are still proven to be living in Fayette County. Shem & wife Olivia are on the July 1870 Fayette census. That area became Campbell County October 17, 1870 and on all later censuses our Cooks are living in Campbell County (1880, 1900, 1910, 1920) which I suspect is likely without them moving. Shem died in ‘Campbell County’ in 1922. In 1932 Campbell merged with Fulton County. So I think that Shem’s original birthplace is more likely within current day Fulton County, Georgia (formerly Campbell Co, formerly Fayette Co).
