Born to James and Sarah Bennett, brother to Lydia Bennett and Catherine(Jones). John's father's profession was a Fustian Cutter, which was taught to John and carried out as a family business.

John married Amelia Fielding 3 January 1849 at St Mary's Church in Manchester. They had 5 children, John 1858-1895 (91965071), Mary(Livingston)1860-1915 (91145558),William 1863-1919 (91145185), Henry 1865-1930 (91965675),and James 1868-1913 (91145043). John was obviously a very generous man.

He employed his family members; Catherine and her daughter Ann and Ruth Fielding, Amelia's sister, according to the 1861 Census. In the beginning of their marriage John also tried to help his mother in law Sarah keep her Pub business going. 1851 Census he was a "beerkeeper."

The death date was chosen because in the BMD there is a John Bennett that died in 1881, sub-district of Chorlton-On-Medlock. That is the address on Amelia's 1881 Census, 7 Rosamond Place, Civil Parish of Chorlton On Medlock.

I believe he was buried in Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery with Amelia's parents as I can find his death in the UKBMD, but no burial record. Amelia was buried in Cheetham Hill. And we all know what happened to the burial records at Cheetham Hill. We do find Amelia in Find My Past.com as buried there.
