Edith Fern (Eyerly) Hagemeier

Edith Fern, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Eyerly, was born December 14, 1890, near Arcadia, Nebraska, at which place she spent her childhood.

In the spring of 1906 with her parents she moved to North Loup, Nebraska; here she grew into womanhood. She attended and graduated from the North Loup High School in 1909. Later she attended the Nebraska Wesleyan University of University Place, Nebraska, and graduating with the class of 1913.

In 1914 she was married to Roy A. Hagemeier. They moved to Ord, Nebraska, in the latter part of 1916, where they have resided to the time of Mrs. Hagemeier's death on Thursday, June 5, 1919.

When 10 years of age Mrs. Hagemeier gave her heart to Christ, and ever remained a devout and faithful follower of her Lord, always a willing worker in His cause. Her Christian spirit was also manifest in the home, where she was always happy and doing that which she could to spread sunshine and cheer.

Shortly after her marriage she united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which her husband was a member, and early in 1917 their membership was transferred to the Methodist church in Ord. Here Mrs. Hagemeier has been a diligent and efficient worker in the church, Sunday School and Epworth League.

Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her going, two little daughters; Fay Dora and Baby Hagemeier, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Eyerly of North Loup, three sisters: Mrs. John Coleman of North Loup, Mrs. A. G. Springer of Cotesfield, Nebr., and Opal Eyerly of North Loup and two brothers, her twin brother Ford and Bryan both of North Loup.

The funeral service was held in the Ord Methodist church Sunday afternoon, which was largely attended by the people of our city, with many from North Loup, Arcadia also in attendance. Her pastor Rev. E. E. Hosman took for his text Isaiah 40; 6-8. Burial was made in the North Loup cemetery.

She is at rest
In God's own presence blest,
She whom while with us, we loved to greet;
Her days are o'er,
She counts the years no more,
Time's foot-fall is not heard along the golden street.
Her faith is sight,
Her hope is full delight,
The shadowy veil of time is rent in twain;
Her untold bliss -
What thought can follow this!
To her to live was Christ, to die indeed is - gain.
