Onias Hale was born in Rush County Indiana in January 1825, and died at his home near Milton Iowa, July 12, 1888.

Deceased came to Iowa in 1842.

He leaves a wife and four children, two sons and two
daughters. He was a man of more than ordinary ability, and prominent in his neighborhood.

He was a lawabiding and upright citizen and a peacemaker,
whose counsel and advise was sought after by his neighbors.

For a number of years he was one of the supervisors of the county, and was regarded as a man of good judgment and
honest purpose.
Some of the most important legislation that has ever come before the board was disposed of during his term,

A large procession consisting of seventy-five teams followed to the Egypt graveyard where the remains were laid away.
