Olga Hedwina Hayen - Heisinger was born July 11, 1927 at Ree Heights, SD to Jacob and Hulda (Maas) Semmler. She grew up in the Parkston area, working in the Corner Café. She married Charles V. Hayen on August 27, 1946 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Parkston. They moved to Canova and then to Mitchell in 1957. Charles passed away May 6, 1995. She then married Francis (Bud) Heisinger on July 10, 1998 in Mitchell. Francis passed away May 31, 2010.
Olga worked at Brady Home, S & H Green Stamp Store, Herberger's Department Store and Geyerman's. She was a seamstress for many years.
She was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, active in the women of the church, holding various offices including three years as Conference Chair Person. She also held several offices on the Church Council, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and baking, but most of all, her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Charlene (Chuck) Arbach of Las Vegas, NV, Paul (Cheri) Hayen of Manhattan, KS, Stuart (Myrna) Hayen of Mitchell, Peggy (Lyle) Weber of Alexandria, SD and Tim (Vicki) Hayen of Bemidgi, MN; two step-children: Glenn (Cheryl) Heisinger of Blaine, MN, Barbara (Dean) Semmler of Sioux Falls, SD; seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, six sisters: Irene Winter, Lucille Ketterling, Anita Hayen, Marie Melton, Vera Jensen and Loretta Nelson, one brother, Eugene Semmler, an infant brother and an infant grandson, Chad.
