A lifelong resident of Cedar county, she died at Sacred Heart hospital Sunday morning. She had been hospitalized there for 22 months. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Boniface church in Menominee. Rev. Otto Zillig officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. Schmitt is survived by a son, Balthasar of St. Helena; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Goeden and Mrs. William Schroeder of Crofton; three sisters, Mrs. Christine Holzbauer of Wagner, S. D.; Mrs. Anna Kuchta of Fordyce; and Mrs. Tillie Goeden of Dallas, S. D.; 26 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. Elizabeth Kast was born near Menominee, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Kast. She attended school at Menominee. She was married to Frank Schmitt May 8, 1893. Mr. Schmitt died June 29, 1946. Mrs. Schmitt was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Jerome Goeden, Duane Goeden, Roman Schroeder, Ralph Schmitt, William Schroeder, Jr., and Emery Schmitt. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Holzbauer, Wagner, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. John Blaschke, Vermillion; Mrs. Leonard Holzbauer, Mrs. Otto Yaggie, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Drotzmier, Yankton; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schulte, Omaha.
