Tony DiMaggio was the son of Frank DiMaggio and Vicenza Civella DiMaggio. He was born in Tampa, Florida. My Nano was a wonderful person. I will try to describe my Nano. He was loving, kind, funny, but quiet.A gentle man who was a wonderful cook. He loved to grow things and enjoyed his yard. He was generous and thoughtful of others. Tony was a carpenter and when he made something it lasted for a century. My Nano was meticulous and the only way to do something was the "right way", no shortcuts. Tony DiMaggio married Sallie Allen Christie on 2 January 1940. He had no biological children, but he was a wonderful father to his stepson, William E. Christie. He was the best grandfather or as we called him, Nano. He was a very patient person, and great with us grandchildren. I can't tell you how much he is missed. Here is a transcript of his obituary.Tony DiMaggio, 90, of Tampa died Saturday at University Community Hospital. A native of Tampa and lifelong resident, he was a retired carpenter and Catholic.
