Vera Coon Shaw, 81, of 225 Plumb St., died Monday at Edgerton Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 23, 1900 in Rockdale, Wis. and moved to Milton Junction shortly thereafter when her father, Dr. George E. Coon, set up a medical practice there.

She graduated from the Milton Junction high school and Milton College and was married to Leland C. Shaw, Sept. 3, 1921. The couple lived in Elwood Ind., for three years before returning to Milton where her husband joined the faculty of Milton College.

Mrs. Shaw was a life member of the Milton Junction Seventh Day Baptist Church and served as organist for over 50 years. She taught children's classes in the Bible School and for some time was a trustee and acting treasurer.

She served as assistant librarian at Milton College for a number of years and worked as a ballot clerk for many elections. She also sang in the Choral Union for several years.

Mrs. Shaw was past president of the Milton Woman's Club, an active member of the Past Presidents Club, and a member of the Woman's Circle of the Milton Seventh Day Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband and her brother, Dr. G. W. Coon of Corona Del Mar, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
