Henry L. Brownell
Funeral services for Henry L. Brownell, well-known DuBois area apiarist, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Eldon V. Mohney Funeral Home here by Revs. David Shultzaberger and Donald Ellenberger.
Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, near Reynoldsville. Friends are being received at the funeral home.
Mr. Brownell, a retired Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Co. locomotive engineer who resided at 1 Hope St., died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday in the Maple Avenue Hospital here after a short illness. He was 81.
He was born April 9, 1885 in Davis, Pa., son of Hiram and Adele Larrison Brownell. He was first married to Eva Bruitt [Buritt] in 1908. She died in December 1964. Recently he married Bernice Baker of Reynoldsville. She survives.
A resident here for the past 50 years, Mr. Brownell was a member of the Free Methodist Church, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Railroad Evangelistic Association of Pennsylvania, and the State Beekeepers Association.
Besides his wife, Mr. Brownell leaves two daughters, Mrs. Betty Castle, Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Doris Cole, Warren, O; three sons, Wilfred, DuBois RD 3; Gilbert, at home; and Paul S., DuBois RD 1; a brother, James V., Key West, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A daughter, Leona, a brother, Robert, and a granddaughter, Marlene Connor, preceded him in death.
