Ora Jane Redwine Martin lived with her husband George W Martin on the Bar X Cattle Ranch in Tonto Basin,AZ. She was a real Pioneer woman. Adobe house, No Electric, dirt roads and the Tonto River to cross, then the first Ranch to the Left was the Martin Bar X Ranch. By Jerri Sellers Paynter, Grand Daughter

She was Post Mistress for the Tonto Basin Ranches in 1897 and also for the same area called Cline,AZ from Jan 17,1905 to Aug 15th, 1912. In Aug of 1912, there were Mail Boxes built (looking somewhat like a very big bird house) along the Tonto Basin Highway 188 for the Mail driver from Globe, to drop in the mail. Each Ranch had a large canvas bag in the Box, for the Post Office Driver to put the mail in.

George died in 1944 and in 1945 she moved to Phoenix,AZ to be close to her Daughter Ruby Martin Sellers.

She loved to play cards, Hearts and Spades mostly, with all of her grandchildren and always made home made bread every week end they spent with her, which was sometimes every week end in the summer months. Oh what fun we had! Written by Grand Daughter Jerri Sellers Paynter, whose Mother was Ruby Martin Sellers.
