Britha "Bertha" Lassedatter was born on 13 August 1851 at Jordal, Balestrand, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. She emigrated in 1857 from Norway to Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. Bertha Lassedatter married Ole Kittleson, son of Kitil Larson (Dokken) and Margit Knudtsdatter (Flåten Løyte), on 25 February 1867 at the Jordal Farm, Beaver Creek, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. She and Ole lived in Trempealeau County until near the end of the nineteenth century. It was there her ten children were born and she raised her family.

Bertha and Ole lived for a short while in Minnesota and Virginia, before moving to Washington in the early 1900s. Bertha lived in Everett, Snohomish County, for 28 years. She was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. She died of stomach cancer on 9 June 1935 in Everett at age 83.
